This is how you get the most out of your sheetmasks
Whether you follow the 10-step K-Beauty-routine or not, sheetmasks are a great way to unwind and maximize the effect of your skincare routine. In this blog post, we are going to have a closer look on how to use sheetmasks and how often you should follow this routine.
What are sheetmasks for?
Sheetmasks are another level to deliver beneficial ingredients and really give them time to work on the skin. They are made of different materials like cotton, hydrogel or soft fabric and are fully soaked in essence. The texture of the essence and the material of the mask can vary depending on the ingredients and target of the mask. They amp your whole routine up a little and get you an intense treatment and a wellness session all in one.
How to use a sheetmask
You can use the sheetmask after your essence or toner step, depending on your preference and the texture of your products. If you use a hydrating sheetmask, make sure to use it before any oil products for best results.
Apply the sheetmask on your face and leave it on for the stated time on the packaging. Most sheetmasks can be worn around 10-12 minutes, but there are sheetmasks for longer treatments as well. After the time has passed, the sheetmask shouldn’t feel completely dry, but not as drenched as before either. If you leave it on until it feels dry, it may actually dehydrate your skin again. So, it’s better to remove it in time and use up the remaining essence on your body. I like to swipe it across my arms or legs or rest them on my feet for a bit. This way, I feel like I’m using up everything. Also remember to use up the essence left in the sachet!
Pat in the remaining essence on your face, let it absorb and continue with oils or your moisturizer.
How often should you sheetmask?
Some people sheetmask daily, but I prefer to save sheetmasks for special occasions and pick-me-ups during the week. I think that if you need to sheetmask daily, you should consider changing something in your routine. If your skin acts up without daily sheetmasking, it might be a sign that something is lacking. Try to incorporate other hydrating products and see how it goes. Ultimately, it’s up to you how often you want to use sheetmasks. I personally use them whenever I feel like it. On average it’s once a week, maybe twice.
What are the results?
You can choose any effect matching your personal skincare concerns, but one benefit of sheetmasking should be hydrated, soft and revitalized skin. I love hydrating, soothing and plumping sheetmasks.
